Terms and Conditions for Bespoke Upholstery.

1. Acceptance of contract between the client and Take A Pew
Payment of the deposit shall be deemed confirmation of the client’s acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

 

2. Payment Details
A deposit, normally 50% of the total, is required before an order can be processed. This is nonrefundable once materials required for the work have been ordered where applicable and once work has commenced. The remaining balance must be paid on the date of the scheduled delivery/collection or prior to this if agreed. (Please note payments can only be accepted by bank transfer, bank details can be found at the bottom of the invoice)

 

3. Fulfilment of Order
We endeavour to deliver the client’s items forming part of this contract on the agreed date. However, to deliver on time is dependent on whether materials to complete the work are available at the time the work is to be undertaken. We will keep the client informed at all times of any supply issues or other factors such as illness/injury or equipment failure, which can affect delivery times.

 

4. Details of work
All details of work will be confirmed in writing and work carried out to this specification. If the client is supplying their own measurements for any items they must advise these in clear form, in writing. Take A Pew cannot be held responsible for any size errors where the client is supplying their own measurements for the work.

 

5. Additional work
Any additional work which may not be apparent when the quote is provided may incur extra charges. This will be advised to the client on discovery and a course of action agreed. This includes things such as frame repairs and spring replacement, if feasible.

 

6. Amendments
Fabrics cannot be changed once the deposit has been paid and the fabric has been ordered. If the client is then unhappy with their choice of fabric and wishes to change it, the cost will be incurred by them. Any amendments by the client to the scope of work after acceptance of the quote will be discussed and further charges may be applied where applicable.

 

7. Fabrics supplied by Take A Pew
We take full responsibility for fabrics supplied by Take A Pew for the upholstery process. Should there be any faults with the fabric such as flaws or shortage in length we will rectify the issue with the manufacturer directly. We will inform the client if this delays delivery dates.

 

We will endeavour to pattern match fabrics wherever possible where they are visible in normal use. However, in some cases this may not be possible, therefore we will discuss this with the client and a course of action be agreed upon.

 

All new fillings applied to furniture manufactured after 1950 will be in compliance with the Furniture and Furnishing (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988. All new covering fabric supplied by us will comply with the regulations with the exceptions of covers which contain 80% natural fibres, when it is acceptable to use an interliner, which complies with the regulations. Furniture manufactured prior to 1950 does not fall within the scope of the 1988 Regulations regarding filling or cover. All furniture worked on by Take A Pew is for domestic use only.

 

8. Fabrics supplied by the client
The client must ensure their fabric is suitable for its intended use and complies with the necessary fire regulations. The Furniture & Furnishing FIRE & SAFETY Regulations (1988). All new fillings applied to furniture manufactured after 1950 will be in compliance with the Furniture and Furnishing (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988. All new covering fabric supplied by us will comply with the regulations with the exceptions of covers which contain 80% natural fibres, when it is acceptable to use an interliner, which complies with the regulations. Furniture manufactured prior to 1950 does not fall within the scope of the 1988 Regulations regarding filling or cover. All furniture worked on by Take A Pew is for domestic use only.

 

Take A Pew takes no responsibility for fabrics supplied by the client, fabric supplied by the client is at their own risk. Shortage, faults or flaws in the fabric supplied by the client is the client’s responsibility. Take A Pew reserves the right to apply a surcharge of up to 25% for handling materials supplied by the client. Additionally, there will be a further charge if the fabric is supplied in pieces instead of on a continuous roll and extra fabric may be required to complete the work.

 

We will endeavour to pattern match fabrics wherever possible where they are visible in normal use. However, in some cases this may not be possible, therefore we will discuss this with the client and a course of action be agreed upon.

 

We reserve the right to add a surcharge to the overall cost where fabrics, woven or printed off-grain, require extra time to make and where fabrics and patterns behave unexpectedly. This will be discussed with the client if applicable.

 

Fabrics sent direct to Take A Pew must have the client’s name clearly marked on the delivery note so we can check, on your behalf, that we have received the correct fabric.

 

9. Natural fibres
Fabrics made from natural fibres may contain and show irregular characteristics which may be perceived as imperfections or flaws by the client, which are in fact part of the nature of the fabric.

 

10. Aftercare
We cannot be held responsible for the future treatment and behaviour of the fabric/trims, such as wear and deterioration, stretching, shrinking, staining, cleanability, fading, or damage to person or property, where the client has acted against the manufacturers/retailers instructions. i.e. Washing/cleaning, steaming etc.

 

11. Old covers/upholstery
All old covers and filling materials not suitable for reuse will be removed and discarded prior to upholstery unless the client advises that they are to be returned. This advice must be written into the order.

 

12. Customer Satisfaction
It is our sole aim to provide our client with quality items and service. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction. Should the client have an issue, they should contact Take A Pew within 7 days of receiving the item, advising of the issue and providing photos where possible. Any complaints or concerns will be treated as priority and dealt with swiftly. If your complaint is received after the 7 day period, any required work will be subject to charge.

 

13. Imagery /Photographs
Images/ Photos/ Videos will be taken of the client’s items and will be shared on social media sites such as Instagram. Images will also be used on the Take A Pew website to showcase work produced. If the client does not wish for their items to be published, they must advise us in writing prior to work commencing.
