Mid Century Ercol 203 Chairs and Footstool in yellow wool
Susan has restored this classic set of Ercol chairs superbly, setting them up beautifully for life number 2 in a modern home. It feels great to support a business that is taking the time, effort and skills to recycle timeless design as finding new furniture of this quality is a real struggle. The cushioning is extremely comfortable, all the wood and soft fabric is professionally finished and they look like new… but they are bespoke and unique! I absolutely love them. Visitors have all commented on how wonderful they look and asked where they can find them!
Susan was wonderfully helpful and accomodating on making bespoke cushions to fit my existing colour scheme. Handmade, professional, quality products. You would not find a better service anywhere else, and I would recommend extremely highly!

Mid Century Oak Danish Chair, 20th Century Ercol 477 & Evergreen Chair with Orla Kiely cushions
We were really pleased to find this site – Takeapew- as it fulifilled our criteria for the new chairs that we wanted. i.e we wanted something stylish and different, a purchase that was climate change friendly (they were renovations) and it supported small British businesses. In addition we were able to talk to the owner (Susan) on the phone, and discuss the finer details of the items which was really helpful and reassuring.
We ended up purchasing 3 chairs from the selection and would have liked more if we had the room. The quality of the restoration was excellent including the attention to detail on the upholstery. Payment and delivery were straight forward and they did not come wrapped in a load of plastic wrapping!! We later ordered 2 more cushions and luckily Susan had some matching fabric left to complete them. You can’t really get a better service than that!

I stumbled upon the Take a Pew website by chance and am so glad that I did! We had been looking for a specific mid-century chair for some time on all the ‘usual’ websites with no joy. I was so impressed with the chairs on the Take a Pew website that I emailed Susan on the off chance to say that if she got one of these chairs in could she let me know. As luck would have it, she had one in!
We are now the proud owners of the said chair and love it! The workmanship is second to none and it is soooo comfortable. Communication was a pleasure and delivery exactly when she said it would be and at a specific time/date to suit us.
Don’t sit on the fence… if you are looking for a reupholstered chair you won’t get better than this.

We are completely delighted with our beautiful chair- it makes us smile everytime we look at it! The re-upholstery is faultless, it is extremely comfortable and the fabric just as described. Communication with Susan was excellent and the delivery organised easily. Susan was exceptionally helpful and gave me some alternative options for the cushion as the original, although lovely, wasn’t a good match for our decor. I couldn’t recommend more highly.
